J Pod spent three days making the rounds of central Puget Sound, with Monday bringing extended socializing off Whidbey and close encounters at the Clinton Ferry.

Southern Residents

J Pod

J Pod spent three days making the rounds of central Puget Sound, traveling from West Seattle to Possession Sound and back. Sunday brought stormy northbound travel past Alki and Richmond Beach. Monday was the main event with repeated passes up and down southeast Whidbey, including extended socializing off Glendale and close encounters at Clinton Ferry. The Sunset Bay hydrophone picked up loud J Pod calls throughout Monday.

By early Tuesday morning, OrcaHello AI detected the pod’s exit through Admiralty Inlet. February has historically been a reliable J Pod month, and this extended visit reinforced that pattern.

Bigg’s Orcas

T46s

The T46 family (minus T46D) traveled north through Saratoga Passage on Monday morning, passing Holmes Harbor and continuing toward Deception Pass. T46E Thor was confirmed in the group.

Keep Watching

J Pod has exited Puget Sound but could reappear in outer waters or the Strait of Juan de Fuca in the coming days.
